A humble & filling iconic Kerala breakfast gets a surprise tasty twist that is sure to be relished by all those with a sweet tooth!
Puttu powder/ dry roasted rice flour – 1 cup
Chocolate/cocoa powder – 2 tbsp
Grated coconut- As needed
Salt- A pinch
Water- As needed
Method: In a large bowl, add the rice flour/puttu powder, chocolate powder, and salt. Mix well. To this add, 1/2 cup of water and wet the puttu powder little by little, and mix well till until you get the breadcrumbs consistency. The right consistency is when you take little flour and press it in your fist it stays together in a shape and does not crumble off. Take a puttu steamer. Layer it with a handful of grated coconut. Add some of the chocolate puttu powder. Place a Lindt chocolate in center and cover it again with some more of the puttu powder. Finally sprinkle some grated chocolate over it. Cover with the lid and steam until done. Once ready, serve it to a plate and drizzle some chocolate syrup and enjoy with a hot cup of tea!
