Chettinad Prawns Masala

A semi-dry seafood delicacy that is a yummy combo with a bowl of steamed rice or roti!

Ingredients:
Prawns-500 g
Onion-1, thinly sliced
Green chilies-2, finely chopped
Tomato-1, thinly sliced
Ginger- 1-inch piece, coarsely crushed
Garlic- 4 pods, coarsely crushed
Turmeric powder- 1 tsp
Red chili powder – 2 tsp
Cumin powder- 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder – 1 tsp
Mustard seeds- 1/2 tsp
Fennel seeds- 1/4 tsp
Curry leaves – A sprig
Salt- To taste
Oil- As needed
Water- As needed

Method: Heat oil in a pan. Splutter mustard seeds, fennel seeds, & curry leaves.  Add the chopped green chilies and crushed ginger-garlic and fry for 1 min. Add the sliced onions and sauté until translucent. Add the sliced tomatoes and cook until they are soft and mushy. Add turmeric powder, cumin powder, chili powder, coriander powder, & salt. Fry until the oil starts to separate. Add the marinated prawns and mix well. Fry for 1 min. Add some water and mix well. Cover and cook for 10-15 mins, stirring occasionally. Sprinkle some lemon juice & garnish with more curry leaves and do a final stir. Remove from flame and serve hot with steamed  rice or roti.
