South Indian Style Brussels Sprouts Stir Fry

A healthy stir fry made savory & delicious with the addition of simple spices giving it an irresistible flavor!

Brussels sprouts- 250 g
Onion- 1, finely chopped
Garlic pods- 3
Freshly grated coconut- 1/4 cup
Dry red chili flakes- 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder- 1/4 tsp
Asafoetida powder – A pinch
Cumin seeds- 1/2 tsp
Mustard seeds-1/2 tsp
Curry leaves- A sprig
Salt- To taste
Oil- As needed

Method: In a grinder, grind together coconut, cumin seeds, and garlic pods into a coarse paste. Keep this aside. Clean and wash the brussels sprouts. Cut them into halves. Heat oil in a pan. Splutter mustard seeds & curry leaves. Add the chopped onion and saute until translucent. Add the brussels sprouts along with turmeric powder, asafoetida powder, chili flakes, & salt. Mix well. Cover and cook for 5-10 mins over medium-to-low flame, stirring occasionally.  Add a little oil if it gets too dry. Remove from flame. Serve as a side dish for rice along with other curries.
