Aloo Poori / Fried Puffed Indian Style Potato Bread

A perfect recipe that tastes super delicious & makes a complete meal!


Whole Wheat Flour – 2 cups
Semolina/sooji– 1/4 cup
Potato -1 boiled, grated, mashed
Red chili powder- 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Cumin powder- 1/4 tsp
Salt – To taste
Water- As needed
Oil- As needed

Method:  Boil the potatoes and remove the skin. Mash it nicely and add turmeric powder, chili powder, cumin powder, and salt. Mix well. To this, add the whole wheat flour & semolina and combine well so that the potato mixture gets completed mixed with the wheat flour. Sprinkle water and knead the dough until the potato is mixed well. Make small lemon-sized balls. Flatten the balls using a rolling pin into small rounds of 5-inches diameter. Heat oil in a kadai. Once the oil is hot, gently put one puri and lightly press it with a spatula so that it puffs up. Fry until it turns golden brown in color from both the sides.  Transfer to a kitchen towel. Repeat the process with the remaining pooris. Serve hot with potato curry.
