Mangalore Buns / Mangalore Style Whole Wheat Banana Poori

An easy & delicious breakfast or snack idea with the richness of banana flavor enriched with the addition of cardamom. 



Wheat flour – 1 1/2 cup
Cumin powder – 1/2 tsp
Baking soda – 1/4 tsp
Ripe banana – 1
Cardamom powder – 1/2 tsp
Sugar – 1 tsp
Yogurt/Curd – 1 tbsp
Oil – As needed for frying


Method: In a medium bowl, peel and mash the banana. To this, add the wheat flour, cumin powder, cardamom powder, baking soda, sugar, and yogurt & knead it well to form a pilable dough. Leave it aside for 30 minutes. Grease your hands and divide the dough into small equal portions/balls, dust it with flour, & roll it into small thick discs like chapatis. Heat oil in a deep pan or kadai. Gently slide in the poori. Using a slotted spoon, press the surface of the poor gently to puff up. Toss oil on the poori. Flip and cook the poori on both sides until it is golden brown in color. Transfer the poori to a paper towel.  Repeat the process with the remaining dough. Serve and enjoy the banana pooris with honey or chutney of your choice.
