Avocado Poori / Indian Style Butter Fruit Fried Flatbread

The soft, buttery, creamy, melt-in-your-mouth texture of avocados is far too appetizing to let go of a chance to include in your diet. Try these roly-poly deep-fried beauties which are sure to be an instant hit! 



Avocado-1 large, ripe
Wheat flour – 2 cups
Salt- To taste
Ghee/clarified butter – 1 tsp
Water- As needed
Oil- As needed


Method: Slice the avocado open vertically and remove the pit. Using the tip of the knife, slice the avocado flesh, making sure to not pierce the skin. Gently scoop out the flesh into a bowl. Mash it well with a spoon. In a large bowl, add the wheat flour, mashed avocado, salt, and ghee and mix well. Add little water as needed and knead it into a smooth dough. Dust it with a bit of flour to absorb any excess water. Keep it aside for 20 mins. Divide the dough into small equal lemon size balls. Take a ball and flatten it using a rolling pin it into a 2 inch disc. Heat oil in a heavy bottomed vessel. Gently slide in the rolled poori and fry it on medium flame. As soon as the poori fluffs up, turn it to the other side and cook until golden brown on both sides. Take it out and drain on paper towel. Repeat the same process with the remaining balls. Serve them hot and crisp with curry of your choice.
