കൊച്ചു മുതലാളി വക ഉണക്ക ചെമ്മീൻ ഉലത്ത്‌ / Kerala Style Dry Shrimps Roast

Try this lip smacking side dish that is loaded with flavors for your next meal ! 

 

Ingredients:
Dried baby shrimp/prawns (unnakka chemmeen) – 500 g
Shallots – 12, thinly sliced
Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
Red chili powder – 1 tsp
Coriander powder – 1 tsp
Fish masala powder – 1 tbsp
Lemon juice – 1 tsp
Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
Curry Leaves – A sprig
Salt – To taste
Oil – As needed

Method: Clean and wash the dried prawns thoroughly and drain.  Marinate the dried prawns with half of the turmeric powder, chili powder, lemon juice, and salt. Leave it aside for 10-15 mins. Heat oil in a pan. Splutter mustard seeds and curry leaves. Saute the sliced shallots until golden and translucent. Add the remaining spice powders- turmeric powder, coriander powder, and fish masala powder. Fry until the raw smell goes away. Add the marinated prawns and mix well. Sprinkle some water and stir fry until the masala is nicely coated on the prawns. Cover with a lid and cook until done, stirring occasionally. Garnish with more curry leaves. Serve with steamed rice and curry of your choice!
