Vegetable Oats Rings

An easy and healthy snack for kids which tastes absolutely delicious.  

 

Ingredients:
Plain Oats – 1/2 cup
Potato – 1 medium, boiled and mashed
Onion -1, finely chopped
Green peas – 1/2 cup, boiled and mashed
Bread crumbs – 3 tbsp
Paneer/cottage cheese – 1/2 cup, grated
Ginger-garlic paste – 1 tbsp
Cumin powder – 1 tsp
Red chili powder – 1/2 tsp
Chaat Masala – 1/2 tsp
Coriander leaves/cilantro – A bunch, finely chopped
Salt – To taste
Oil – 2 tbsp for shallow frying
Water- As needed for mixing

Method: Heat a pan on medium flame and dry roast the oats. Allow it to cool. Grind the oats into a fine powder. In the same pan, heat oil and fry the chopped onions until golden brown. Remove it from flame and keep it aside. In a bowl, mix together the oats powder, onions, mashed potato, green peas, ginger-garlic paste, cumin powder, red chili powder, chaat masala, chopped coriander leaves, bread crumbs, grated paneer, and salt into a smooth dough. Add few drops of water if the dough is too thick. Divide the dough into equal parts, roll it to make a ball, lightly flatten the balls with your palm to form patties. Using a chop stick or your finger, make a hole in the center of the patties and press it down slightly with the fingers of your other hand. Heat oil in nonstick pan and shallow fry the patties until golden brown on both sides. Serve delicious tikkis with ketchup!
