This is a great way to use leftover biryani and is an instant crispy teatime snack that is perfect for rainy days.
Leftover biriyani – 1 cup
Onion – 1, finely chopped
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Green chilies- 2, finely chopped
Ginger-garlic paste – 1/2 tsp
Rice powder – 1/4 cup
Boiled Potato – 1, mashed
Coriander leaves – A bunch, finely chopped
Curry leaves- A sprig for garnish
Salt – To taste
Oil – For frying
Method: In a large bowl, mash the biryani with boiled potato to form a smooth dough and keep aside. In a pan, heat oil. Add the chopped onions and green chilies and saute well until golden brown. Add ginger-garlic paste & turmeric powder and cook until the raw smell goes. Switch off the flame and add the onion mixture to the biryani dough along with the rice powder, chopped coriander leaves, and salt. Combine well. Using wet hands, take few portions of the dough and make lemon-sized balls out of it. Heat oil in a heavy bottomed pan. Deep fry the balls till nice and golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Serve warm with ketchup or sauce of your choice as an evening snack!
